Central Auckland concrete is rarely straightforward, and that's usually a good thing. The older slabs under villas and character homes in Ponsonby, Grey Lynn and Mt Eden have often been sitting under carpet or vinyl for decades, and what comes up once they're ground back can be better than anything a new pour would give you. Newer apartment and townhouse slabs around the CBD, Newmarket and Epsom tend to suit cleaner, lower-exposure finishes that sit well with modern interiors.
